CHATURMASA SANKALPAM COMMENCES IN TIRUMALA

Periyakoil Kelviyappan Shadagopa Ramanuja Pedda Jiyangar Swamy of
Tirumala commenced Chaturmasya sankalpa along with Sri Narayana Ramanuja
Chinna Jiyangar Swamy in Tirumala on Monday.
As per the Sri Vaishnava
Calendar this vrata which commences especially during the rainy seasons
will last till November. The Yoga purushas have followed this vrata
deeksha since vedic period in India seeking the prosperity of entire
humanity.
The scriptures stated that
the vrata commences in Ashada Masa and continues in Shravana,
Bhadrapada, Aswayuja and concludes in the holy month of Karthika on full
moon day. The seers of various mutts will observe strict food habits
and completely immerse in Dhyana and rituals for the sake of well being
of humanity.
On Monday both Pedda
Jiyangar and Chinna Jiyangar of Tirumala offered prayers to Sri
Bhuvaraha Swamy, Srivari temple and later reached Jiyangar Mutt in
Tirumala in a religious procession before commencing the Vrata. Later
the four-months vrata commenced amidst chanting of vedic hymns by over
3000 veda pundits from across the country who convened to witness the
religious event.

GVG Ashok Kumar, temple Dy EO Sri C Ramana earlier received the Senior
and Junior pontiffs of Tirumala temple at the entrance of the temple.
After darshan of Lord Venkateswara, they were presented with Melchat
Vastram and Noolchat vastram respectively.
