LOKA KALYANA RATHA YATRA

Tirupati 12 April(P.R.O) Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam has launched Loka Kalyana Rath Yatra - a unique program of Hindu dharma propagatation in the East Godavari District.

The 21 day long campaign will provide an opportunity to the large number of devotes of Lord Venkateswara in the district to have darshan and also participate in the significant rituals performed for the deity at Tirumala.

Sri I Y R Krishna Rao, Executive Officer of the TTD told newsman today that the a 50 member team of TTD officials including Archakas and the Ratham will begin its yatra in the district from April 16 th onwards.

He said the Lok Kalyana Ratham will stay put in each mandal headquarters –Rajanagaram, Kothapeta and Kurokonda for seven days each where every day spiritual and devotional programs will be performed to the Utsav idols which will be brought in a special vehicle from Tirupati.

Explaining the purpose of the Lok Kalyana Yatra , Krishna Rao said the objective was to provide free and trouble free darshan of Lord venkateswara to tribals living in remote and rural areas . ‘ We also aim to involve the Tribals trained as Archakas in the exercise so that they take up propagation of Hindu dharma thereafter ‘. One another mission of the Yatra and the TTD is to divert the attention of the innocent people from violence and to become religious minded in thought and action as well.

The rituals like Suprabatha Seva to Ekantha Seva, will be performed for the deity in the Ratham exactly on the same pattern they are conducted at the Srivari Temple at Tirumala. ‘Tribals and other devotees from all the villages of each mandal should utilize this opportunity ‘Krishna Rao said.

At each mandal headquarter during the stay of the Srivari Lok Kalyana Ratham other cultural activities like Bhajan’s religious discourses, Rangoli and Cooking completions for women , Essay writing and other country games for children will be conducted . Harikathas, Purana discourses, Music and classical Dance programs and Sankeetans, will also be conducted every day at each of the locations for imparting the message of religious harmony and devotional excellence.

The TTD would also conduct Ayurveda and Allopath medical camps where in the medical specialists from the BIRRDS, SVIMS and Sravanam Hospitals of Tirupati will provide free consultation and medication to the needy and poor persons. The Chief Medical Officer of the TTD will coordinate the activity of all the Medical Specialty institutions from Tirupati.

The Laddu Prasadam of Lord Venkateswara , Copper Dollars and copper bangles , Pustaka Prasadam and Kumum- Akshita prasadam will also be freely distributed among the devotees during the course of the Ratha Yatra in the district towns .

Krishna Rao said the mission was to camp at each of the three Mandal headquarters for seven days to take up the campaign for Devotional literature and Hindu dharma propagation .

He said in the Tribal areas Govinda Kalyanam program has been taken up for the benefit of the tribal population as per below schedule
